Sport fan communities in Greece: social construction, identities and values
The project based on ethnographic fieldwork using multiple sources data (for example, interviews, questionnaire, field participation, video, graffiti, newspaper information) within organized sport fans in major cities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Herakleion. It reveals the emergence and the social construction of the organized fun communities around popular sport teams during the period of the restoration of democracy in Greece. The research evidences reveal distinct cultures, identities and value systems that surround the fandom social worlds in the context of wider economic, social and cultural transformations.
